About the Workshop
Intensive
|
|
|
10:00 am - 12:00 pm -- Exquisitely Slow
Moves
(The warm up is
quick, so come early to stretch before class.) All that
ooey gooey stuff that is so fun and delicious to watch and do
will be focused on in this class. We will work from head
down to the fingertips. We will cover super slow
isolations, extreme undulations, upper body technique, hand
work, elbow work, wrist work, posture, oblique strengthening
(to get that horizontal pull that makes Mayas and hip slides
so exquisite), and belly rolls with emphasis on stomach
musculature.
|
1:00 - 3:00 pm -- Fast and Furious
Drills
We will include
pilates and yoga-based exercises to strengthen the core
muscles necessary for backbends, belly rolls, and tight hip
work. Hip, head, shoulder and chest isolations will be
drilled, as well as working on smoothing transitions from move
to move. We will go over lots of pop-lock technique, as
well as fluidity of movement, stressing on posture and upper
body awareness. This class is for all
levels.

About Zoe
Jakes
|
Zoe is a proud member of The Indigo which
recently was on the road touring their show Le Serpent Rouge. She
has been touring with Bellydance Superstars since the fall of 2005
and can be seen performing on their new Tribal Fusions DVD.
Combining talents with David Satori and Tommy Cappel to create
Tribal Derivations last spring, Zoe discovered she enjoyed creating
music, and plans to make more. When not with the Indigo, she tours
with The Yard Dogs Road Show, a cartoon circus sideshow of wacky
dimension, and has been seen tearing it up with the Extra Action
Marching Band. An innovative dancer, Zoe has been said to have her
own unique take on Tribal bellydance. She takes her influence from
Art Nouveau, Tango, break dance, and Indian classical dance.
Zoe was recently nominated for Zaghareet's best interpretive
artist 2007. She loves unicorns and has never once doubted their
existence.
