This 20-page pattern booklet is a newly-published edition of the original
1977 fold-out poster. The Bethany Dress is a traditional Palestinian
wedding dress with elaborately embroidered bodice panel (called Qabbeh).
The booklet includes complete color-coded cutting diagrams, traditional
embellishment instructions and embroidery stitch directions, a full-size
bodice embroidery design, plus updated supply resources. There are
no actual pattern pieces, but because the dress is "assembled" like
a quilt from straight-sided strips, it is very easy to follow the cutting
diagrams and to adjust for individual sizes. Suggested fabrics: This
dress is traditionally made from strips of medium-weight silk in red
and green, with a strip of yellow on the sleeve and a striped shoulder
yoke (usually red and gold).

lavish flounces that move with flash. Dress has princess seams, flounced
cap sleeves, V-neck front, and up to four tiers of flounces. Skirt has
back waist darts and raised waistline; make it with all four flounces or
just one flounce for a salsa-hot mini. Make simple-sew fabric Rose accessory
to attached to dress or pin in hair. Suggested fabrics: Silk or polyester
douppioni, taffeta, faille; other fabrics with body and slight stiffness.

jacket. Easy-sew garments are perfect for wearable artists, costumers,
belly dancers, and reenactors. Add elaborate embellishment with machine
embroidery, braid trim application, and beadwork for a lavish look. Wear
with the Turkish pants from "Sarouelles" for a more complete and authentic
